Government cracking down on mortgage scams

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D97D5NQO1.htm

The above article was very appealing to me because it spoke about mortgage modification and how the federal and state mortgages are cracking down. For instance, in the article it states that “government officials said Monday that scammers are seeking to take advantage of borrowers in danger of default by charging them upfront fees of $1,000 to $3,000 for help with loan modification that rarely, if ever, pay off.” (Rugaber & Zibel pg.1) There are a lot of realtors that are taking advantage on consumers that cannot pay for the mortgages monthly. This article is a great example on how to stay away from them and look at the bigger picture.
